Food waste has become a huge problem for the hospitality, public and commercial sectors and institutions that produce or sell food. Many food organizations who are producing or catering for large numbers are still sending their food waste to landfill. However, that number is gradually being reduced and with new tariffs in place for transportation and weight of food waste, it is now a costly exercise to go to landfill.
Most companies nowadays are looking for ways to be sustainable, reduce costs and handle their food waste in a better way, and make their staff more aware of best practices.
Tina has specific knowledge on food waste problems and solutions with all these sectors having found solutions for many of them over the last few years. There and now many off the shelf solutions available however the best one is the IMC Waste Station. It eliminates food waste, is vermin free and creates a resource compost! The particular company Tina has worked with is IMC UK and Susteco in Sweden.
For the last 15 years Tina has worked extensively with IMC UK manufacturers of waste station and in particular with the Imperial College of London Professor Sue Grimes who headed up the project and assisted IMC manufacturer in creating a dewater system for their macerator hence the waste station machine was born that reduces food waste by 85 % in the process.
Tina has successfully sold many IMC Food waste stations and in-vessel composters into many sites in both the hospitality leisure and public sectors like hotels, hospitals, schools, military, prisons, airports, sport stadiums, both in Ireland and the UK. She has many case studies on the institutions she dealt with and can prove the cost savings of using the waste station and the in-vessel composter.
Some projects who have invested in both the waste station and in-vessel composter use their resource compost and send nothing to landfill are:
